How to Play Billiards: 8 Ball Pool

Billiards: 8 Ball Pool is a game of skill and precision. Use your mouse or touch controls to aim, adjust your power, and execute the perfect shot. Here's a breakdown of the controls:

  • Aim: Use your mouse or finger to position the cue stick.

  • Power: Drag the cue stick back to increase the power of your shot. The further you drag, the more power you'll apply.

  • Spin: Adjust the spin of the ball by clicking or tapping on the cue ball before taking your shot. This allows you to control the ball's trajectory and position after impact.

  • Shoot: Release the cue stick to strike the cue ball and send it towards your target.

The goal is to be the first player to pocket all of your assigned balls (solids or stripes) and then legally pocket the 8-ball.

Billiards: 8 Ball Pool - Your Questions, Answered!

What are the different types of balls in 8 Ball Pool?

In 8 Ball Pool, you have the cue ball (white), the solids (numbered 1-7), the stripes (numbered 9-15), and the 8-ball (black). The solids and stripes are assigned to players after the first ball is legally pocketed after the break. For other fun games, try bubble shooter!

How do I win a game of 8 Ball Pool?

To win, you must first legally pocket all of your assigned balls (solids or stripes). After that, you must legally pocket the 8-ball. Pocketing the 8-ball before pocketing all of your assigned balls will result in a loss, unless it happens on the break.

What constitutes a foul in 8 Ball Pool?

A foul can occur in several ways, including scratching (pocketing the cue ball), hitting the wrong ball first, failing to hit any ball, or jumping the ball off the table. After a foul, the opposing player gets ball-in-hand, meaning they can place the cue ball anywhere on the table. Learn more about gaming strategy at Poki!

What happens if I scratch on the 8-ball?

If you scratch (pocket the cue ball) while shooting the 8-ball, you lose the game, unless you are shooting at the break. Also, check out these interesting draughts games.

What is a legal break in 8 Ball Pool?

A legal break requires you to either pocket a ball or send at least four balls to the rails. Failure to do so results in a re-rack, and the opposing player has the option to break or pass the break back.
